BLACK WOMAN-OWNED DIGITAL COMMUNITY HISTORICALLY MAKING WAVES AS THE FIRST CAMPAIGN SHOWCASING BLACK WOMEN WAVERS. Note: WavyWMN is pronounced "wavy women".

WavyWMN, a Black woman-owned digital community based in Brooklyn, NY, announces the launch of its first campaign, "Meet The Wavies". Featuring photographs of four Black women doing what they do best: Being themselves while taking care of the crowns on their heads.
Curated by WavyWMN Founder & CEO, Amber Lauren, the campaign is now available to view on the brand’s website and social channels as of July 2022.
“I’m excited, honored, and humbled to be making this historical feat,” Lauren said. “Especially in a time where we are still judged for the way we wear our hair. WavyWMN looks forward to continuing to curate spaces for Black Women wavers. Especially those often unnoticed in both natural hair and beauty aisle conversations. Staying true to our motto, 'If hair is the canvas, waves are just the paint.'”
Meet The Wavies was created to show love to the unique hairstyle of waving. Highlighting Black Women often excluded in both the natural hair and beauty aisle conversations.
To create this hairstyle, one brushes their natural curls and kinks flat. Achieving a “wave-like” pattern, without chemically altering the hair.
This campaign is a close, intimate look at the relationship Black Women have with their hair. As waving is a style often associated with Black Men, and left out for Black Women. We're exploring to share stories from around the world, and the world around us.
