Artist Profile: Jay Swishes.

Q: Hey Jay, can you introduce yourself?

A: I go by the name Jay Swishes from Brownsville, Brooklyn born in Ontario Canada. I started making music since I was a kid. I always had an infatuation and love for music. In 2018, is when I started creating music.

Q: How would you define your sound? Who is your “average” listener?

A: I would describe my sound as very melodic with intricate bars. In order to display my message weather it be the struggle of growing up in Brownsville with no money nor opportunities with a hunger to live a better life while just trying to survive a dangerous environment. Or talking my shit, showing my level of confidence on how I view myself.

I would say my average listener are young men getting it out the mud. But women do enjoy my music.

Q: Who would you say some of your influences are in the music industry?

A: My influence before anything is my life. On top of, the environment I have been in since I was a kid.

Someone in the industry? I would say Tory Lanez.

Q: What is your favorite thing about making music and releasing it to the world?

A: My favorite thing about making music & releasing it into the world is the simple fact of me knowing that music is a drug that can influence someone’s day, mood, & has the power to get someone through the bad times.

If I can touch someone’s life in that way, I get a thrill out of that knowing that I can have a big influence on people.

Q: What is your studio ritual?

A: My studio ritual is getting a bottle of Hennessy or Casamigos and pour up it up. Make sure the room is filled with some beautiful women around & a few of my boys to set the vibe, then I get to work.

Q: What is your favorite song of yours?

A: My favorite song of mine is called Motives on my newest upcoming project called "I’m Really Him".

Q: Biggest lesson you’ve learned since the start of your career?

A: The biggest lesson I learned is that networking is key and who you know is very important.

Q: What has been your favorite or biggest accomplishment this year?

A: My biggest accomplishment this year was dropping my First Ep, I'm Him and all the top New York DJs supporting it by me getting on platforms like Power 105.1.

Q: What's the theme song to your life?

A: The theme songs would be, Him Duncan by Jay Swishes featured on my First Ep, I'm Him. Second being, I Remember, which is a song that’s on my Second Ep, I'm Really Him.
