Artist Profile: Boy Floss.

Introduce yourself. Where are you from, when did you start making music, why?

Its Floss. I spent my early years in Brooklyn then later moving to Staten Island, which I now call my home. I have been involved in music since age 3, playing the drums. As time passed, I taught myself guitar and bass. After age 12, I started producing on my first laptop ever due to inspiration from discovering rap music.

How would you define your sound? Who is your “average” listener?

My sound can be defined by any person.

It is constantly changing and open to interpretation by my listeners. I can make any form of music as I have experience in every genre. My average listener can be a teenager who wants to rage or a middle aged person looking to escape reality. I have seen every person there is be able to feel my music in their own way.

Who would you say some of your influences are in the music industry?

My influences range from genre to genre and from all sorts of times in music history.

Some names include: Young Thug, Chief Keef, Yung Lean, Linkin Park, and Lady Gaga.

What is your favorite thing about making music and releasing it to the world?

I don’t have one favorite part, I live and breathe the entire process of music. It helps me stay in tune with myself and my soul. Music shows me the hidden parts of our reality.

What is your studio ritual?

There is none, I walk in with zero expectation and put my mind and body into one conjoined musical state. The rest will always flow naturally.

What is your favorite song of yours?

One of my favorites is called “Rocker”. Which is part of my album also named “ROCKER”.

Biggest lesson you’ve learned since the start of your career?

I have learned so much, but most notable was the ability to understand that you must fall in love with the process and not what you get out of it in the end.

What has been your favorite or biggest accomplishment this year?

I have successfully completed my first tour and released my first official studio album. In addition, just in 2022, I have played more than 100 live shows.

What's the theme song to your life?

My own songs are my theme and my life as they display my purest emotions. But for this exclusive occasion, “Like a G6”.
