The Take is a digital series that sources you to the artists' take on their music.

What is the message behind this song?
LND is an invitation to the darker sides of love, and a peek into what it looks like when the balance of power/ give and take in a relationship turns toxic. This song is a reflection of me and my life. Love is not always light, and that's okay, as long as you're ready to jump into the abyss and come out the other side. LND is a piece to a much larger puzzle; more pieces to come soon.
Who was in the studio when you made this song?
I never have a huge studio entourage! It was just me, Jimmy, my engineer (hey Jimmy!) and my best friend. Creating is a very intimate moment for me and I need to just be able to zone everything else out and focus on just the music. This also helps me to remember to trust myself, my creativity and my ear. I know what I want you all to hear and to feel.
How does this song make you feel?
This song makes me feel sexy and strong. I wrote it in celebration of reclaiming my power the right way and every time I hear it, I get that same resurgence. I really put my spirit into this song; it's one of those songs I want to play so loud it shakes the ground and just dance under the midnight sun.
Intent for the song?
I want LND to be a call to everyone to take back their power, just as it was for me when I made it. My mom always says to never cast your pearls before swine... I want to remind people just how powerful they are and to be intentional with sharing that with others.
What's your favorite lyric of the song?
Beg for me.
It's a very simple but powerful command. Usually people see this as a sexual command but I love how much emotion and meaning can truly be wrapped into a short phrase. Pleas, Longing, Compromise, Anger, Vanity, Passion, Love... so much can be encapsulated all in three short words. Beg. For. Me.
