Please introduce yourself, what is your name & where are you from?
Hi Friends, my name is Eileen, you can call me “E”. I am from Uptown Manhattan (Dyckman/Inwood) area.
What was it about sneakers that got you in the game?
Sneakers were ingrained in my DNA, especially growing up in New York. In a world of school uniforms, the first day felt like a sneaker fashion show—it was the one variable that stood out.
What was your first sneaker?
I think New Balance, my mom was big on getting “Comfortable” shoes for me, then probably Jordans because of my big brother.
Your favorite pair? (or top 3)
Ugh! This question is tough. I’ll go with the top 3.
I absolutely love Air Jordan 4 silhouette then a Air Jordan 1 to be specific, OG Chicago. For third place, Nike Air Max 1 or 95’s.
Your favorite sneaker memory.
My favorite Sneaker memory is tied to the streets of New York, where every step echoed a personal style statement, making each moment a unique expression of self through footwear.
Do you consider yourself a collector of sneakers? & Do you wear your sneakers?
I believe I’ve evolved into a sneaker collector, and getting more selective of what becomes part of my collection.
Yes, I 100% wear all my sneakers, even if it takes a while to cycle through the collection.
What's your favorite brand of sneaker and why?
Nike/Jordan is a longtime favorite for its iconic designs, but lately I’m appreciating the innovation and style from New Balance. they bring a fresh perspective to the sneaker scene.
What are a pair of grails to you? (Could be a pair in your closet or in general)
My Off White x Air Jordan 4's and 1's are grails for me.
Especially with Virgil Abloh’s passing, they’ve taken an even more
significant and special meaning.
If I may add a grail that I don’t have it must be Nike Air Yeezy 2, 'Solar Red'. I would love to own those.
Your favorite sneaker campaign?
The New Balance x Bricks & Wood 9060 campaign stands out as a favorite. “Nothing Changed but the Address” from how they were released, the sneaker itself and campaign was truly amazing.
A must have for your closet? (A recommendation)
Aside from sneakers, absolutely a good statement jacket or coat is a must, adds flair to any outfit & keeps you stylish.
What is a shoe that you REFUSE to buy, why?
The MSCHF, 'Big Red Boot' is a big “No” for me.
If you got the chance to sit in a meeting w/ a sneaker brand, what would you ask/recommend/ask/say?
In the meeting, I’d emphasize the significance of creating opportunities for young talents from underrepresented communities, fostering diversity not just designs but also in the voices shaping sneaker culture narrative.
Most you’ve ever spent on sneakers?
Retail prices. Shout out to my man for my extra special ($$) kicks.
A sneaker you regret sleeping on?
Regret sleeping on the—missed out on a gem there.Aleali
