Prior to the season, the team traded away superstar wideout Davante Adams and has since struggled to replace his offensive production. At the trade deadline, the Packers attempted to amend their mistake but failed miserably. The team was aggressive in search of pass catching upgrades, yet they failed once again to provide Aaron Rodgers with offensive weapons.
With the trade deadline in the rearview mirror, the Packers only hopes to turn their season around this season relies on the limited free agent pool of wideouts. Potential reinforcements consist of high-risk, high-reward veterans like Odell Beckham Jr., Will Fuller, T.Y. Hilton, and Antonio Brown. The Packers could look to any of these wideouts to provide some veteran leadership and depth at the position.
More than likely, the Packers are monitoring the status of the two most realistic options: Will Fuller and Odell Beckham Jr. Green Bay and Will Fuller have been linked since the 2020 Trade Deadline when the team attempted to acquire the wideout via trade. Likewise, Aaron Rodgers and Odell Beckham Jr. have had mutual interest in playing with one another in the past. Earlier in the season, Odell hinted at a possible link-up with Rodgers with an abundance of cryptic tweets teasing fans about his next destination. More recently in an interview, Odell named-dropped Green Bay as one of his four potential landing spots.
The future of the organization seems up in the air. Either addition would be a breath of fresh air for this offense, but we shall see if the organization’s inability to surround Aaron Rodgers with weapons continues to get in the way of success.
