Crocheting and knitting have long been considered hobbies reserved for grandmothers and old crazy cat ladies. However, thanks to TikTok, a wave of young adults have embraced the past-time and been popularizing it by sharing videos of things they have made.
#Crochet on TikTok has 11 billion views and similar hashtags like #crochetpattern and #crochettop have several million views. These crochet creations range from stuffed animals to unique clothing items.
It’s clear that stores have picked up on this trend and made their own versions to appeal to online crafters. Hollister, Boohoo, ASOS, and more have cashed in on the trend with varying levels of quality to their garments.
Of course, it’s possible to forgo these stores and instead opt for creating individual pieces. The whole draw of crochet is that people can create whatever they want, including versions of what’s available in stores.

HayHayCrochet also has beginner patterns and video tutorials. Plus, there are plenty of pictures to guide newbies along. Below is their

Is a full sweater too intimidating? No worries! This ribbed beanie is quick and easy to get beginners warmed up to crocheting. I’ve made it several times myself and have always been happy with the finished product.

Some finals tips for crocheting:
YouTube is a crocheter’s best friend. There are thousands of tutorials for basic stitches and patterns.
The first try isn’t going to be perfect. I suggest practicing basic stitches before jumping into a pattern.
Don’t be afraid to “frog” (or unravel) a project. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right!
Invest in some nice yarn. No one wants to wear an itchy sweater.
Go forth and create! Nothing is more fulfilling than wearing a homemade creation and being able to brag about it to other people.
